WOW 2.0 – Shelton State Community College
February 7, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - February 8, 2018 @ 1:00 pm
West Alabama Works and Shelton State Community College are inviting businesses to participate in WOW 2.0, Feb. 7-8, 2018.
WOW 2.0 is a 2 day event which targets high school seniors and post-secondary students on the first day and high school juniors on the second day. Students will be able to speak with post-secondary schools, as well as meet with industry-professionals in a job fair setting. Personal, pre-scheduled interviews will occur with interested high school seniors and post-secondary students on Wednesday, February 7th. Thursday, February 8th high school juniors from the 9 county Region will have the opportunity to meet with post-secondary schools and industries. This event will allow additional connections between industry and potential workers to be made, with the goal of filling the more than 4,000 high growth, high demand jobs available in West Alabama. The goal of WOW 2.0 is to reduce the number of job fairs industry attends by maximizing this one event to find desired talent.
Tables at WOW 2.0 should be interactive. By creating an interactive and fun experience, candidates remain engaged. It also gives the business more time to assess the candidate.
Giveaways are given only if the student participates in a short test, puzzle, or simulation. By creating an environment where candidates can experience the skills necessary to be hired by the company, engagement and success is raised to a new level.
Example: Let candidates spin a wheel and have them answer questions about the company, have flashcards that allow candidates to showcase their math skills or money counting skills.
A registration link is below. The deadline to register is Friday, December 15th. Space is limited, and will be given on a first come, first serve basis.
